The first are activities to create lightning.  Most of the activities I found were repetitive so these are the basics. 

This is an activity using lifesavers to literally create lightning in your mouth.

Lesson plans for the power point

Here are my lesson plans with brief description for the power point.

This lesson talks about how static electrity cause lightning. Students perform 4 different activities that show how lightning is created.

This websites has tons of lesson plans pertaining to thunder and lightning including how to create both, what causes them, and lightning safety.

This lesson is for grades 3-5. It shows students how electric charges contribute to the formation of lightning.  It also has students investigate the frequency of lightning strikes across the United States

These were really the only few websites I could find with lessons about lightning.  I know it is not many, but the lots of lessons link literally has lots of lessons within it.  I could show several of them to the class during the presentation.

Lightning Under water

This video is a Harmony STEM project where a student creates lightning in water in a test tube.  This would be a great project to do with students of all ages to demonstrate how lightning works.

National Geographic and Lightning

This first website is a great way to open up a lesson about lightning.  The section about lightning gives a lot of in depth information, and offers a photo gallery with amazing pictures.  The National Geographic website has information about many different aspects of weather.

What is Lighning?

Below is a link for the Weather Whiz Kids website.  It provides interesting information about lightning in a way that is easy for kids to understand.  This website also has several useful resources such as experiments, games, flashcards, and many more!
